CSO Assistant Conductor Duo Shen leads the CSYO Philharmonic to end the Youth Orchestra season with popular orchestral works. Rather than telling a specific story, British composer Anna Clyne describes her work as a “visual journey” inspired by poetry. Ballade by Coleridge-Taylor features exciting climaxes and tender lyrical passages connected in what can be described as the musical version of a literary ballad. The concert closes with Pictures at an Exhibition, a highly acclaimed work that depicts the musical journey through an art exhibition in which each movement corresponds to a different painting.PROGRAM
