Croatia & the Adriatic: The Wine Class

A few years ago, I was in New York with a well-known sommelier and a few wine writers. We were panelists at a round-table discussion on the future of wine. The conversation ranged from natural wines to climate change. I brought up the topic of Croatia and the Adriatic and my love of the region’s wines.
After the talk was over, the other panelists flagged me down, deeply curious about these wine regions they had never heard about. Being in Manhattan, we grabbed a car to a local wine shop I knew carried a few bottles of great Croatian wine. We found some shade in Cooper Triangle, and one of the writers popped open the bottles. He poured wine into paper coffee cups while I gave an impromptu wine class.
This story matters because these wines matter and nobody –not even the best and brightest in the American wine scene– knows it. So let’s change this fact. It’s crucial because these wines are super-delicious. After all, this is a region with great potential and an ancient story that includes the origin of wine in America.
Come with us and explore this ancient corner of the wine world. One that is more relevant today than it ever has. This class is the wine tasting that will change how you view the world of wine.
