About this Event
What does it mean to build a creative world for yourself in uncertain times?
Made with artists in mind, but honestly for anyone who’s ever felt unsure about calling themselves one. If you’ve been sitting with doubt around your creativity, your skill, or where you fit, this space is for you.
Join us for a slow, intentional morning of reflection, writing, and mixed-media artmaking. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s just to move a little differently in your creative practice, without pressure or overthinking.
Facilitated by Rhonda Wheatley, this session leans into intuitive making through guided prompts, writing, and creative play. We’ll spend time building something for ourselves—letting go of rigid expectations and making room for curiosity, care, and possibility.
Participants will create a mixed-media affirmation artwork using text and imagery centered on growth, transformation, and personal direction.
This workshop is part of South Side Community Art Center’s ongoing work to support artists and the creative community. SSCAC is dedicated to conserving, preserving, and promoting the legacy and future of Black art and artists, while holding space for learning, rest, and imagination.
This event is free to attend. A $10 suggested donation can be made in person (QR code, cash, or check).
