
About this Event
Best experienced as a series we hope to take you on a journey of self-exploration and creative expression that will invigorate the senses and incorporate practices you can take back to the workplace, share with family and friends or just practice at home.
The series is designed and delivered by two youth workers come art therapists, so we know what its like working in human services and the toll it can take on your mental health! Part proffessional development, part burnout prevention, relax and meet new friends for some creative and social rest.
Week 1 - May 7 - Journal Making - Create your own unique journal with the to use as your very own self care toolkit. Collage, write, draw and paint anything you like into this where you can include all your self care reminders.
Week 2 - May 14 - Mindful Marbling - We start by grounding ourselves and connecting with the body and focus on unplanned disruptions and how we respond to them in daily life.
Week 3 - May 21 - Creative Writing - Using our pre made journals we take a deeper dive into creative writing using a variety of journal prompts and creative journalling activities inspired by art therapy.
Week 4 - May 28 - Whole Body Drawing - Learn how to mesh creativity with a mind body connective practice of using the whole body to draw and explore with partnered and bilateral drawing.
Week 5 - June 4 - Inner landscapes - Starting with a nature themed meditation, we explore our very own inner landscapes and create a mixed media collage that reflects our happy place.
Week 6 - June 11 - Clay Meditation - A sensory exploration and mindfulness practice we sink into a deep meditation using clay. Create a piece you can even fire to take home as a keepsake.
These workshops are run on Boorloo Wadjuk Ngoongar Boodjar - we acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land - Sovereignty was never ceded, we need a treaty now.
