About this Event
Join us on the 5th of April for the fifth UMY Night with Sofia Rehman!
We will be hosting Sofia Rehman, a Muslim author, educator, and scholar of Islam. Sofia’s writings explore a wide range of topics, including climate change, gender justice in Islam, Islamophobia, and migration, all deeply rooted in Qur’anic studies, Hadith, and Islamic tradition. Don’t miss this enlightening talk!
What is UMY Night?
Migrant youth in the Netherlands often navigate the duality of their cultural heritage and contemporary culture, complicated by disinformation and a lack of role models. To address this, the Creative Muslim Club (CMC) has launched UMY (Urban Migratory Youth) Nights—a blend of storytelling and artistic expression turned into a get-together and podcast recording, where generations come together to foster a sense of belonging and understanding.
What to Expect:
🎤 Engaging discussions with guest speakers who weave migrant stories into their art.
🎨 A space to explore and redefine identity, culture, faith, and loyalty.
