An evening of art and activism with short plays, talks, and film on HIV, queer resistance, and creative practices by Living Museum of HIV.
About this Event

Creation and HIV: A Contagious Practice is a pre-event for World AIDS Day, blending art, activism, and community dialogue. The evening will feature:

  • Dramatised reading of short plays created during a theatre and creative writing workshop led by activist-researcher Diego Agurto at Positive East. Professional performers will bring these stories to life.
  • Talk by Dan Glass, pioneer in performance activism and LGBTQ+ rights campaigns, co-founder of ACT UP London, and author of United Queerdom and Queer Footprints. Dan has led groundbreaking actions such as HIV Blind Date and ALL ABOARD ACT UP, using performance as a tool for social change.
  • Short film screening: “Saintmaking”, a documentary exploring the radical legacy of Derek Jarman, one of the UK’s most outspoken HIV-positive artists and activists. The screening will be introduced by Krzysztof Dubicki, film curator and queer activist, MA in Film and Screen Media, coordinator of the Queer Film Club for Queer Migrants & Queer People of Colour, and producer for KINOTEKA Polish Film Festival.
  • Closing conversation with drinks and food to foster dialogue and community connection, facilitated by Diego Agurto, creator of Living Museum of HIV, and Valentina López, collaborator of the project.
