About this Event
This course will be delivered by Sam Wainman, a PhD researcher and Psychologist who works in collaboration with Clouds End.
Those on the course will learn about the impact of the historic association of hoarding disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder on psychological research, and in turn, our understanding of hoarding disorder. It will then go on to consider how assessments can be used in cases of hoarding, how to understand different aspects of hoarding behaviour and how to apply this to one’s practice when faced with hoarding behaviour.
Throughout the course there is an emphasis on application of the psychological principles discussed, with delegates having the opportunity to apply their knowledge, discuss ideas and ask questions.
Everyone who hoards has a unique story and this course will empower delegates to support individuals who hoard through an empathetic stance which is based on understanding the person, which research has shown to be the most important aspect of support when it comes to mental health.
