About this Event

Legal Voices for the Future presents its second knowledge session focused on ?Corporate Responsibility and Climate Change?.

Join us in person at 1 Duval Square, London, E1 6PW (Ashurst offices) or online (?Teams details? are at the end of this event description).

Substantive presentation

In this session, we will look at the increase in climate change considerations for corporates and their directors, from legal and regulatory requirements to soft pressures such as shareholder activism and investor impact.

We will explore the role of lawyers in advising corporate clients on the risks and responsibilities associated with climate change and in weaving such considerations into their daily work.

Interview with an expert - Jack Longden

Each of our monthly knowledge sessions will include an interview with a guest practitioner/ academic who will bring the topic of the presentation ‘to life’.

We are delighted to interview Jack Longden, the Sustainability Manager at QBE European Operations. Having started his career as a solicitor, Jack now brings a unique perspective to his role as the Sustainability Manager at one of the UK's largest insurers!

We can't wait to hear from Jack about how this role promotes climate change in a corporate setting and what he expects from QBE's legal advisers.

Creative content

Each of our monthly knowledge sessions will include a small group discussion of ‘creative content’. This might be a podcast, a piece of music or a film.

For this knowledge session ?Corporate Responsibility and Climate Change? we will be asking attendees to listen to an episode of the Outrage + Optimism! podcast as part of our creative content discussion.

We will be focusing on the 'Do The Work' episode which includes an interview with Helen Clarkson, CEO of the Climate Group 14 minutes into the episode: https://www.outrageandoptimism.org/episodes/do-the-work

About Legal Voices for the Future

Legal Voices for the Future is a collaborative learning forum established by junior practitioners from different fields of law, whose objective is to give voice to a new generation of lawyers. We do so by holding monthly knowledge sessions open to everyone - lawyers and non-lawyers alike. In order to bring fresh perspective, innovation and determination to pressing global issues such as climate change, each session is organised and led by a different member of Legal Voices for the Future.
