About this Event
The Oakland Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression is working with East Oakland resident Terry Lovett to get answers and accountability for the death of her son Jalani. In September 2021, Jalani Lovett was found unresponsive and beaten in his cell in LA Men's Central J*il. The LA Sheriff's Department claims it was an overdose, but this J*il has a long history of white supremacist deputy gangs, abysmal living conditions, and one of the highest in-custody death rates in the state.
Mama Terry is raising funds for a second independent autopsy to get the truth about what happened to her son Jalani. Learn more about her fight for justice in the video below.
Join us for a cookout in East Oakland on Saturday, April 25! We'll have food, art, and a speaker program to build awareness and raise funds for the Justice For Jalani Lovett campaign. If you cannot attend but would like to donate, please contribute directly to the campaign HERE.
