About this Event
Who This Workshop Is For
This round of Fractionees (pronounced frak-she-own-eez) is for middle-school students (Grades 6–8) who are capable but unsure when working with fractions -- especially when denominators differ -- and who need stronger number sense and operational clarity.
What Makes This Different
Instead of relying on shortcuts, students learn what fractions mean, how denominators affect value, and how to reason through operations -- without embarrassment.
What Students Will Do
Students complete a brief pre-check and post-check to help measure improvement during the session.
Participants work through carefully selected problems that emphasize:
• understanding equivalent fractions
• making sense of unequal denominators
• reasoning about size, value, and relationships
This isn't a cure all, but it's a good start.
Workshop Format
• Small-group instruction
• Guided problem solving
• Immediate feedback and correction
• Structured exercises designed to strengthen foundational skills
