About this Event
Welcome one and all to the next iteration of Cooking with Quentin! For the uninitiated, CWQ was a monthly potluck that occurred from January 2023-May 2024 that grew from a small group of West Coast swing dancers having a dinner party,into what was termed by some as a “scene” in the Denver area. It was marked by diverse groups of people meeting together, sometimes in very small spaces, to eat abundant and excellent food. If you were at all a part of it, you know what it was all about.
After this brief hiatus of 2 years (I decided to go to physical therapy school and get married) CWQ is going to look a little different. The reason I decided to start again as a fundraiser, goes back to the last event in 2024. We were in a park barbecuing, and I had not brought enough charcoal to cook the food for everyone. As I was trying to figure out what to do, a homeless man named James came up to us and offered some of his charcoal that he used to cook his food. He had been sitting close by our grill and was moved to share what he had with us. This was very impactful for me, as I have always been amazed at the amount of food that we have left over after each and every potluck, and I have wanted to share with others through that. So, now we will get the opportunity to give back to people in need!
The theme of this CWQ is "No Reservations", a nod to the TV show featuring the late Anthony Bourdain. This is for 3 reasons:
- #1. From now on, CWQ has “No Reservations” about the mission to provide a place for community building and helping others.
- #2. Everyone is welcome to CWQ. Friends, family, acquaintances, strangers and enemies are all invited.
- #3 We will be cooking food for the potluck from our favorite celebrity chefs! Whether it is Martha Stewart, Julia Childs, Binging with Babish, Emril or a Tik Tok star, bring something inspired by them!
