Join Katherine K. Tineo-Komatsu, LCSW, RYT in this workshop that will explore the use of play-based interventions when working with young people in diverse social work settings. We will examine strategies that will help us move beyond crisis management and into therapeutic treatment. We will discuss the importance of the inner child as
it relates to countertransference and focus on the role of authentic relational connections to engage young people. We will work together to identify how social workers and young people can effectively utilize play-based interventions to address and begin to cope with traumas, mental health conditions, and interpersonal relational issues.

As a result of this workshop, participants will be better able to

1. Better define and explain play-based interventions.
2. Identify at least one example of a play-based intervention to use in their setting.
3. Better understand counter transference as it relates to the inner child.
4. Create an individual session plan using a therapeutic game for a young person.

Katherine K. Tineo-Komatsu, LCSW, RYT (bio) is a licensed clinical social worker, registered yoga teacher, and Senior Lecturer at the Columbia School of Social Work. She provides a wide range of training and consultation servies.

Please note that in order to receive your continuing education certificate, you must attend the entire workshop and complete the evaluation in accordance to NYSED regulations. There is a 10 minute grace period. Any participant who arrives/logs in past 6:40 PM OR leaves/logs out earlier than 9:20 PM will not receive CE credits. Refunds are not provided for late arrivals or early departures. Please plan accordingly.

CE Distribution: Evaluation and Certificate forms will be distributed via email within 1 week following the event to those meeting the attendance requirements above.
