About this Event
UAL's Black Creatives Hub and Arts SU's African Caribbean Society are partnering to host a social networking event where students from Africa, the Caribbean and the wider diaspora can connect and hear about the experiences of Black alumni.
This event is open to all students across the University who identify as Black or of mixed Black heritage, particularly 2nd and 3rd year students.
Our speakers
Ade Bamgbala
Ade is an award-winning Creative Producer who specialises in audio (podcast) production. He's worked with companies such as 'Google, BBC Sounds, and The Economist', to name but a few, and is the founder of Blacticulate Ltd: an independent production company that amplifies Black stories and positive actions. Currently, he's an Associate Lecturer teaching across the London College of Communication's Media, Design, and Screen school, with a focus on compassionate pedagogy.
Venus Ashu
Venus is a German-Cameroonian writer, photographer and social creative based in London. Her work spans writing for stage and screen, portrait photography and creative campaigns, often exploring themes of Black experience, culture and identity. After graduating from Central Saint Martins, she received a graduate award for her TV concept Fat, Black and Single, which later went viral on social media. Alongside her writing, she works as a portrait photographer and freelance creative, collaborating with brands including Urban Outfitters and Foot Locker. She is currently developing a new comedy web series and a one-woman play for the Camden Fringe.
