Over the years, we have had many Tribute bands come in and perform at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave). For more than a decade, we have been known as venue for Tribute bands for more than the past decade! We have had so many different types of Tribute acts perform over the years, most of them are Tributes to the most legendary bands and every once in awhile we will bring in a Tribute to more of an obscure band or a band that has a cult following! On Friday January 3rd and kicking off our weekend shows in 2025, we are bringing in for the first time ever, Concrete who is a Tribute band to 90’s alternative rock band Pavement! We know that Pavement has an awesome Cult following, so we know that all Pavement fans are going to love this night! Also performing on this evening and opening the show is Joining Concrete will be SUPER K*ll ME NOW, playing some of the music of 90’s Alternative band, WEEN. This is a very unique Tribute night that we know will be a lot of fun! The show starts at 9pm, there will be a $10 cover charge at the door!CONCRETE is a tribute band to PAVEMENT, the famous Stockton, CA indie slacker rockers from the ‘90s.
As the first and only (to our knowledge) Toronto-based Pavement tribute band, Concrete will be playing the hits and deep cuts from all 5 of frontman Stephen Malkmus’ decade-spanning albums. Expect to hear: “Gold Soundz”, “Stereo”, “Cut Your Hair”, “Summer Babe (Winter Version)”, “Shady Lane” and countless more.
New to Pavement? As explained by one of the Kens, to one of the Barbies, in Greta Gerwig’s 2022 hit comedy Barbie: “Stephen Malkmus really harnessed the acerbic talk-singing of Lou Reed with post-punk influences such as Wire and The Fall”.
Come to the Linsmore Tavern on Friday, January 3rd to see what “acerbic talk-singing” is really all about.
Joining Concrete will be SUPER K*ll ME NOW, playing some of the music of WEEN.
