About this Event
Making and using compost in your garden offers many rewards: recycling valuable resources, improving water retention, regulating soil temperature, fighting pests and diseases, and feeding the soil food web that supports healthy plants.
In this introductory workshop at Merritt College, you’ll learn several effective composting methods and how to choose the right system for your space, time, and gardening goals.
We will explore several approaches, including:
• Hot and cold composting
• Aerated Static Piles (ASP)
• Worm composting (vermicomposting)
• Hugelkultur
Presenter Lori Caldwell is a 2006 Alameda County Master Composter, Bay-Friendly Certified Landscape Professional, self-taught edible gardener, and residential sheet mulch maven.
