Volunteer Morning at The Green Haven Project, hosted by Cafe Namaste

Join us for a special community wellness morning on Saturday, May 23, 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the Green Haven Project Community Garden. Start with coffee and connection, then head into the garden.

Together we'll plant seeds and help grow food for the community. No experience needed. Just show up ready to get your hands in the dirt, and spread good energy.

Come solo or bring a friend. All are welcome. Please commit if you RSVP. Your presence makes an impact.

What to Bring + Details

  • Water bottle, sunscreen, hat, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.
  • Gloves and tools will be provided.
  • Non-perishable goods are welcome to help stock the community pantry.
  • Free parking on-site and street parking available. Main entry is off 11th street.
  • Begins at 8:30am.

Why We Do This

Wellness has become synonymous with studios, memberships, and self-care routines. But something is missing from the conversation: collective wellbeing and purpose. Research published in the Journal of Happiness Studies found that people who volunteer at least once a month report better mental health than those who don't (Greater Good), and Harvard researchers have linked regular volunteering to lower levels of physical pain, reduced cardiovascular risk, and better physical function with age (NPR). The science is clear: showing up for others is one of the most effective things you can do for yourself too.

Cafe Namaste hosts monthly volunteer mornings because wellness was never meant to be a solo practice. We grow when we serve together.

Green Haven Project is a nonprofit organization focused on creating community gardens and sustainable ecosystems in areas known as food deserts. They provide education on horticulture and nutrition to youth, and all food grown is given away to local residents free of charge. Their mission is to empower residents to live a healthy, sustainable life through fresh, locally grown food.
