About this Event
In Gattaca a genetically inferior man assumes the identity of a superior one in order to pursue his lifelong dream of space travel.
“This is one of the smartest and most provocative of science fiction films, a thriller with ideas.” – Roger Egbert
This film has been selected Matteo Fumagalli (Education Manager, Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences) who says: “Gattaca is about to turn thirty years old. This iconic 1997 film by Andrew Niccol features a young Ethan Hawke, Jude Law and Uma Thurman in an engaging personal story set in a dystopian future; genetics drive people’s lives and destiny and there’s little space (pun intended) for choice and dreams. I chose this beautifully shot film (look out for warm filters!) as it’s about the power of dreams and human connection, which resonate a lot with me, and how they can open doors seemingly closed.”
Matteo will give a short introduction to the film before it starts.
