Comedy Show For Lives USAID Can't Save Anymore: Bigger, Funnier, Sadder

We're back at it again!

Who says saving lives can’t be hilarious? Join Grassroots Comedy for a night of stand-up that proves you can fight the foreign assistance funding crises and laugh your face off at the same time. This show benefits A Crisis in Care - a rapid-response fundraiser supporting frontline local HIV organizations left stranded by USAID funding cuts- started by former USAID employees.

Here’s the deal: in early 2025, the U.S. government shut down USAID. Along with it went funding for dozens of local organizations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America—organizations providing HIV treatment, testing, prevention, and support for families and kids. These groups didn’t stop when the money did: they’re still showing up for HIV+ children, adolescents, and vulnerable communities who can’t access Medic*tion, caregivers trying to feed their families, and communities who were left hanging. But without funding, they can’t hold on forever.

This time we're going ALL IN with the talent, and bringing in some of the funniest comics around - including a SURPRISE headliner you’ve seen on Netflix, HBO, CBS, listed as one of Rilling Stone's "50 Funniest People Right Now," and possibly in your dreams (they’re that good). Also featuring Jasmine Burton (Washington Post's Top Ten Comedians), Umar Khan ("Let's Talk About it" comedy album), Yamin ElHady (Hulu's Muslim Matchmaker), and hosted by USAID alum and Grassroots Comedy's own Chris Blackwood. The jokes will be quick, the laughs will be loud, and every punchline helps pay for HIV prevention, treatment, and care programs that the government left hanging.
