About this Event

In this hybrid lecture-workshop-playtime event, artist Kameelah Janan Rasheed will offer autobiographical notes to contextualize the lineages of play that influence her practice. Ranging from Sufi cosmologies to shifting Black vernaculars to her peri-rural upbringing into East Palo Alto, Rasheed will consider how different registers of play emerge in her practice and everyday life. The workshop playtime is woven into the lecture – interludes of language play as part of the collective knowledge production.
RSVP is suggested as space is limited.
Studio 105 and the adjoining Ulises bookshop are open weekly, Wednesday through Sunday from 12-6 PM. Please visit https://www.rayphilly.com/art-and-culture#events for more information on free programs occuring during the exhibition.
