About this Event
Musichead Gallery is proud to present Come As You Are: Grunge, Counterculture, and the Seattle Sound. This exhibition takes a wider look at grunge, highlighting the energy, ethos, and attitude that carried the music far beyond where it started. It celebrates bands such as Green River, Nirvana, and L7, whose DIY spirit and sludgy guitars defined the tension between underground values and mainstream visibility.
Featuring the work of eight acclaimed photographers, including three who documented the early Seattle scene, this show takes viewers behind the scenes of the early bands who blended punk, metal, and rock into a new sound. From intimate club shows to moments on stage and in the crowd with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, the photographs also explore the wider impact and lasting influence of the grunge movement.
