Come Hang At COLOR GANG!
COLOR GANG! is a group-coloring pop-up that raises the bar on coloring for adults and lowers the stakes of interacting with fine art. Chicago-based artist Richard Yu-Tang Lee presents an original series of black and white ink drawings exploring the surprising (and surprisingly harmonious) intersection of mid-century American cartooning and the gestural vocabulary of Chinese calligraphy.
Originally made with a traditional Chinese wolf-tail brush, these paintings have been reproduced into archival quality black and white art prints. Choose from 6 available art prints to color in your own interpretation. Each print is a collaboration — Richard's line, your color — and yours to keep when the night is done. No artistic experience required. Just creative play and the joy of gathering.
Each ticket gets you 1 fine art print (5.5 x 8.5 in) of your choice and 1 beverage (beer or seltzer).
Colored pencils provided. All are welcome.
