About this Event
Join Us for Collective Cuts, A Unique Photo Collage Workshop
Get ready to unleash your creativity in this hands-on creative workshop, making new images out of old with Frankfurt artist Lilly Lulay, visiting for her CONTACT Photography Festival exhibition "Soft Errors, Hard Truths" at the Goethe.
Lulay facilitates the workshop to help you create hyper-real photo-based visual worlds, drawing from the collaborative Cadavre Exquis drawings of the Surrealists, artists like Hannah Höch or John Stezaker as well as her own practice. When these artists created collages around 1900, cutting and recomposing images in often absurd ways, the effect was provocative; today AI is doing something similar but smoother with thousands of image fragments.
Bring your favorite snaps, old magazines & books, favourite scissors, craft knife, glue sticks—or just bring yourself and we'll supply the artsy materials. Whether you're a collage newbie or a pro, this is the perfect spot to mix, match, and cut your own art.
Limited spots! Please register only if you know you'll attend (or cancel well in advance)— we offer workshops with renowned international artists for free because community matters, and every empty seat is a missed opportunity for someone else to be creative with us.
