About this Event

The Alliance is honored to welcome renowned artist and educator, Paloma Trecka, who will lead two collage workshops. Attending both workshops is recommended, but not required.

Cut and Paste: I (April 19, 1-4pm) will begin with a demonstration and presentation of collage techniques and source materials; participants will then freely explore and experiment to create their own unique art work. Materials to bring: One pair of scissors, glue stick, x-acto blade knife, paper, photos, a marker and substrates such as cardboard or artboards (any shape or size). *

Cut and Paste: II (April 26, 1-4pm)will focus on developing a collaborative and intuitive approach to collage and will feature the act of juxtaposing words and images to create a visual and spoken word poetry. Adapting from the surrealist game of Exquisite Corpse, participants will randomly select words and images from source material provided by the instructor. Materials to bring: One pair of scissors, glue stick, x-acto blade knife, paper, photos, tape, markers and substrates such as cardboard or artboards.*

*The Alliance will also provide a variety of unique historic and contemporary images and extra supplies for both workshops.
