We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross to raise awareness and participation in blood donation within our Latino community. This effort is especially important because our community plays a critical role in saving lives.
Here are a few facts worth sharing:
1 in 7 patients entering a hospital in the U.S. will need blood.
Approximately 57% of Hispanics have Type O blood, the most transfused and most critically needed blood type.
1 in 3 Latinos will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and many will require blood products during treatment.
Blood is needed every two seconds, and it has a limited shelf life, meaning donations must be ongoing.
Despite this need, blood donation participation among Hispanics remains low, largely due to lack of information. That’s where you come in.
We ask for your support in two meaningful ways:
Share this message with your networks, family, friends, colleagues, and community groups.
Join us by donating blood if you are eligible, or by encouraging others to do so.
Donating blood is safe, confidential, and assistance in Spanish is available at donation sites. Most importantly, it is one of the simplest ways to give back and help ensure that lifesaving blood is available when our community needs it most.
Together, we can close the gap, raise awareness, and help save lives, one donation at a time.
