Join us for a very special Climate Mingle as we head to Dartmoor Zoo for an evening exploring conservation, climate action and innovative environmental projects.This informal, free networking event brings together climate-enthused people from across Plymouth to connect, share ideas and hear from inspiring local organisations.
Discover Dartmoor Zoo’s sustainability projects 🐾
A representative from the Zoo will share insights into their environmental, conservation and sustainability initiatives, including plans to further reduce impact on the environment and support local biodiversity. You’ll also learn about their growing partnerships with groups and organisations and how conservation work at the Zoo contributes to our wider climate and nature goals.
Learn about the Miyawaki Method🌲
Bethan Rose from SocieTree will speak about their tree-planting work, focusing on their Miyawaki method and how these fast-growing, densely planted native ‘micro-forests’ support carbon sequestration, biodiversity and community resilience. They’ll also highlight their joint project with Dartmoor Zoo, and maybe even get a sneaky peek at the planting site.
What to expect:

By bus – The 59 bus service stops outside the zoo main entrance. Timetables are available here. The 59 leaves from Royal Parade (stop A13) in Plymouth City Centre, takes around 30 minutes and stops at Sparkwell village before the zoo entrance. They also advise you arrive at the zoo entrance bus stop at least five minutes early for your return journey. From time to time, the service will run slightly ahead of schedule, pass the zoo stop and then wait in Sparkwell village. Please refer to Traveline if you need further help planning your journey.
By train – The closest local train station is at Ivybridge. There is a local taxi service which can take you to the Zoo.
By car – If you are driving, consider car sharing. Follow Google Maps for Dartmoor Zoo, Sat Nav Postcode: PL7 5DG. There is free parking adjacent to the main entrance.
Arriving from the A38: Take the Deep Lane turn off signed from Plympton, follow the signs for ‘Wildlife Park’ from the roundabout at Chaddlewood. This will take you past Langage Business Park to Sparkwell village, which the Zoo is just on the far side of. Once you get to Sparkwell, drive through the village and the Zoo is approximately 300 yards further on.
Arriving from Plympton: Continue on the B3416 towards the Chaddlewood roundabout, then go straight ahead and follow the signs to Sparkwell. Once you get to Sparkwell, drive through the village and the Zoo is approximately 300 yards further on.
