About this Event
You’ll be tapping your toes when you hear this lively trio with its big, warm sound — featuring Nelda Swiggett on piano and vocals and Clif Swiggett on trombone and percussion with a special guest Michael Glynn on bass. Nelda and Clif have been playing music together since the night they first met in 1987. They perform at jazz clubs, private parties, weddings, and concert venues around the Northwest. Clif and Nelda love to share their joy of music with all audiences.
The Little Big Band plays hundreds of songs, crossing genres including classic jazz and swing standards, lively Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms, and funky hits by Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones and more — all freely interpreted in the moment by this nimble and fine-tuned partnership.
Jazz pianist and composer Nelda Swiggett has been active on Seattle’s music scene since the early 90’s. As a bandleader, she’s headlined at many of the Northwest’s top jazz venues, including the Seattle Jazz Fellowship, Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley, Bumbershoot, the Bellevue Jazz Festival, and the Earshot Jazz Festival. Nelda is an award-winning composer and OA2 recording artist. Her five album releases have received rave reviews and extensive airplay around the globe. Nelda’s big band arrangements of her original music have been performed by Seattle’s nationally recognized Garfield High School Jazz Band, the Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra, and others. Nelda is also in demand as a solo pianist, side woman and jazz educator.
