Circle of the Springs Garden Tour: Native Plants & Pollinators

Join Patrick and Becky McGuire on a tour of an 80-foot diameter native pollinator garden, the Circle of the Springs Garden, located on the Upper Field in the Headwaters Sanctuary. The garden structure was inspired by an image on the White Shaman Panel on the Lower Pecos Rock Art. Composed of 16 planting beds and 16 crushed limestone paths, the garden contains 42 native pollinator species. Color, texture, and proportion were considered in the pollinator plant selection. Its planting scheme offers a broad range of colorful blooms, foliage colors, mature growth heights from groundcovers to plants reaching 5-6 feet, interesting textures, and varying blooming/berrying seasons. The garden nurtures birds, bats, and insects.

Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, comfortable attire, and a hat. Do bring a bottle of water.

This walk will be limited to 25 guests. Registration is required.

Patrick and Becky McGuire have overseen the Circle of the Springs Garden area for the past five years. As Headwaters Volunteer Trail Monitoring Team members, the McGuires may be encountered along Sanctuary trails on Fridays. Patrick McGuire has been a Headwaters Board of Directors member for three years.

Native plant enthusiasts, the McGuires are certified Master Naturalists and members of the Native Plant Society and Salsa Squad Chapter of the Texas Invaders.
