You’ll hear "Drinking Song" by Gustav Holst from the Latin manuscript of Benediktbeuern. Also "Drinking Song" by Ralph Vaughan Williams from the opera "Sir John in Love." Plus "Drinking Song" by Sigmund Romberg from "The Student Prince." And, of course, "Drinking Song" by Felix Mendelssohn. For a change of pace, "A Drinking Song" by Ron Jeffers. Then we have "Trinklied" by Franz Schubert, one from 1813 and another from 1815; the German translating to—yup—"Drinking Song." There’s the Student Chorus from the opera "The Tales of Hoffmann" by Jacques Offenbach; that one happens to be about drinking. Additionally, "In taberna quando sumus" by Carl Orff from the cantata "Carmina Burana;" the Medieval Latin translating to "When we are in the tavern." Oui, let’s not forget "Chanson à Boire" by Francis Poulenc, the French of which translates to . . . wait for it . . . "Drinking Song."
The Irish Inn Mates band join us on Irish folk songs with fiddle, bodhran, bouzouki, guitar, harmonica, tinwhistle and Irish flute. Enjoy "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," "The Wild Rover," "Whiskey in the Jar," "The Soldiers Song," "Mo Ghilla Mar," "Molly Malone," "Tell Me Ma," "The Parting Glass," plus a few instrumental tunes.
