Keen city cyclist Steve Bedford will be using pedal power to once again raise money for the HELP FOR HEROES charity.Dry-liner Steve, a valued member of Safe Local Trades, is embarking on the four-day Big Battlefield Bike Ride this summer to mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Somme and Armed Forces Day.
Steve Bedford and a group of fellow fundraisers the ‘Battlefield Badgers’ are taking on their fifth epic challenge, covering 250+ miles over four days in June helping to raise money for veterans.
The starting point will be Ypres before cycling through historic WW1 sights in Northern France to pay homage to our brave men and women, finishing with a poignant tribute to the fallen soldiers of the First World War at Thiepval Memorial — the largest Commonwealth war memorial in the world.
And to help boost charity coffers even more, Steve has organised his third successive evening of comedy, fundraising and live music; with the help of Ian Hayes of Hats Funny Comedy, and music supplied by Peterborough’s own Stevie B. The £20 ticket admission price includes buffet food and the chance to win some incredible raffle prizes and bid on auction lots.
The fun-packed evening at The Boulevard Club, Bourges Boulevard, New England, Peterborough takes place on Friday 20 March and tickets can be purchased at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/battlefield-badgers-event-2026
