Course Description
This is a 10-week course in Chaoxian Salpuri Dance.
Chaoxian Salpuri Dance
Salpuri is one of the most iconic traditional Korean folk dances, originating from rituals of purification and the release of negative energy. Characterised by the use of a long white scarf, the dance combines controlled, flowing movements with subtle shifts in rhythm and breath, symbolising cleansing, consolation, and emotional liberation. This workshop introduces participants to the fundamental techniques of Salpuri: body posture, breath patterns, movement pathways, and scarf handling. No previous dance experience is required. The course welcomes anyone interested in Korean traditional dance, embodied storytelling, or Asian performance culture.
