About this Event
Join us for an afternoon of collage with a craft twist where you will be guided through the process of transferring photographs onto a ceramic plate to memorialise untold stories and personal narratives.
The workshop will be led by artists Leonora Lockhart and Isis Dove-Edwin whose practices are informed by the history of ceramics and its connections to craft as a form of female resistance.
The session will begin with an introduction from the facilitators, who will expand on their research and demonstrate the wet transfer process. Participants will then be invited to create their own ceramic collage on to a plate using materials from their personal archives.
After signing up, you will be invited to submit a selection of images and text in advance. These will be printed onto decals and prepared for you to apply on the day. Extra decals will be provided if you do not have any images to use. Please note: finished artworks will be available to collect from Autograph's gallery three weeks after the workshop.
The ticket price for this event is £15 and includes all materials and firing costs. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. If this ticket price is unaffordable for you, please get in touch with Harriet at about free ticketing options.

Workshop Lead by
2nd Shift is a creative collaboration between Isis Dove-Edwin and Leonora Lockhart, two artists grounded in concept-led, materially driven practices. Emerging from shared conversations around balancing artistic careers with study and motherhood, 2nd Shift interrogates marginalised narratives situated at the intersections of our collective and individual identities: biculturalism, Blackness, neurodiversity, ageing, womanhood, and mothering.
As 2nd Shift, they seek to cultivate community, expand critical discourse, and dismantle the structural barriers frequently faced by artist-mothers. The collaboration is inclusive, welcoming all mothering identities. Isis explores diasporic stories of objects, skills, and people using West African domestic pots as inspiration for terracotta sculptural vessels. Leonora explores identity and material culture through ceramics and glass. She draws on personal narratives and research to reveal hidden histories within domestic objects.
