About this Event

Join us at Gallery Two4nine Art Studio on Saturday 16 May for a hands-on clay workshop where you’ll create beautiful handmade ceramic hearts in a relaxed, inspiring studio setting.

This workshop is perfect for friends, family members, or individuals wanting to explore clay for the first time — and it also makes a thoughtful creative gift experience.

A Creative Gift Option

While not exclusively a Mother’s Day event, we will have a beautifully designed printable voucher available for those wishing to gift the experience to someone special.

In This Workshop You Will:
  • Learn the basic principles of working with clay
  • Create two ceramic hearts using Mac’s White Stone Clay
  • Explore shaping and decorative techniques to personalise your pieces
  • Create terracotta-style beads using air-dry clay to complement your ceramic hearts
  • Apply accents of colour using underglaze

Your ceramic hearts will be kiln-fired and ready for collection 4–6 weeks after the workshop.

No previous clay experience is needed — beginners are warmly welcomed.

A Relaxed Studio Experience

Afternoon tea is included, with freshly baked scones, chocolate brownies, and a selection of tea, coffee, and juice provided — giving you time to pause, connect, and enjoy the creative atmosphere.

About the Facilitators

This workshop will be led by artists Anna McLeod and Jill Butler, who also collaborate through Creative Foundations.

Anna is a ceramic artist with a background in teaching Sculpture and Art History, bringing strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of form and process to the studio. Jill brings extensive experience as a painter and designer, with a focus on composition, surface detail, and creative exploration. Together, they combine complementary skills and artistic perspectives to create a supportive, engaging, and inspiring learning environment for participants of all experience levels.
