Bringing together Distinctive Deacons in the Church of England, DD ordinands and Enquirers. In Person and Online.About this Event
Once again, CENDD is delighted to offer this day conference to Distinctive Deacons in the Church of England to meet together for teaching, fellowship and encouragement. DD ordinands, enquirers and interested others are all most welcome to attend.
Our keynote speaker, the Revd. Canon Rosalind Brown, will look closely at the Deacon's role in intercessory prayer, equipping us for this important aspect of our ministry in our own churches. We are also very fortunate to have The Rt. Revd Pete Wilcox, our Bishop's Champion, with us. Bishop Pete will lead a biblical reflection on deacons in the Gospel of Mark, as well as updating us on current developments about the Diaconate in the wider church. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to hear from Distinctive Deacons themselves, about their work, their challenges and their joys.
Our venue is the very special Royal Foundation of St Katharine in East London, easily accessible by public transport and often described as an 'oasis of peace' in the midst of the city. In-person ticket cost includes a hot buffet lunch and morning & afternoon refreshments.
For those wishing to travel down to London the previous day, a limited number of rooms will be available at the Royal Foundation of St Katharine and can be booked by email to CENDD. See FAQ's for further details.
The Conference will be available online to make it as accessible to as many DDs as possible, although delegates are encouraged to attend in person, wherever possible, as opportunities to meet up with each other can be rare. Thanks to a grant from the Community of St Andrew's Trust, all prices for this event have been generously subsidized. Distinctive Deacons are also encouraged to apply to their Diocesan training budgets for help towards Conference costs.
