In 1965, Kennedy Elementary School opened with an estimated cost of $500,000. The school’s name was solicited from 24 participating fifth grade classrooms, half of which recommended President John F. Kennedy. Flexibility was highlighted as a key feature in the design, with folding walls installed throughout the building allowing two classrooms to be converted to one. A major addition was completed in 1971, which provided extra classrooms and a library.
For the 2026-27 school year, Kennedy Elementary will be consolidated with Starr Elementary School.
