About this Event
Join Move San Mateo and Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition for a community ride celebrating San Mateo's newly completed intersection safety improvements at 3rd Avenue and Norfolk Street.
: We'll depart from San Mateo Central Park (meet at the giraffe statue in the north corner) and ride to 3rd and Norfolk, where the city has installed new sidewalks, protected bike paths, dedicated bike signals, and enhanced pedestrian crossings. These improvements make it safer to bike and walk across the Highway 101 overcrossing and connect to the San Mateo Creek Trail.
Ribbon-Cutting: City Council member Danielle Cwirko-Godycki will join us at the intersection for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating these infrastructure wins for people walking and biking in San Mateo.
After the Ceremony: Riders can continue to Ryder Park via the San Mateo Creek Trail to participate in the city's Earth Day Cleanup event (9am-12pm), featuring music, games, and BBQ for that event's volunteers.
Return Options:
- Group ride back to Central Park
- Ride independently via the San Francisco Bay Trail
All ages and abilities welcome. This is a celebration of progress toward safer, more accessible streets for everyone.
This event is community-supported. If you are able, please consider making a tax deductible donation to SVBC, a public charity, in support of events like these. https://bikesiliconvalley.org/
