ABOUT SURGE FOR WATER
Surge for Water invests in communities with safe water sanitation hygiene and menstrual health solutions to help end the cycle of poverty. Shilpa Alva Executive Director first visited family in India when she was a child. Instead of seeing children who had the luxury of playing she saw them fetching water. At 21 she spent months on a teaching assignment in Rajgarh a remote Indian village where she witnessed students missing school due to water-borne illnesses. The founding of Surge in 2008 was a response to this essential need and calling. Today a global team of talented staff and volunteers run Surge.
