About this Event
Join us in Ottawa to celebrate Global Butterfly Week with a fun, family-friendly activity focused on butterflies and conservation. Children will learn about the importance of butterflies, their role in nature, and how we can help protect them. The event will include a butterfly-themed treasure hunt, simple educational activities, and the opportunity to observe butterflies closely in a respectful and safe way.
All minors must be accompanied by an adult. As this activity takes place in nature, we kindly ask families to be respectful of butterflies and their habitat. Please help ensure that children do not catch, handle, or disturb butterflies, other insects, or flowers unless guided by the organizers. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes, bring water, and dress according to the weather. No previous knowledge is needed—just curiosity and enthusiasm for nature!
PARKING INFO:
The meeting place will be the Fletcher Wildlife Garden parking lot. Please note that parking may be limited on Saturday morning, so we recommend planning extra time to park and walk to the meeting point to avoid arriving late.
There can be available parking on Prince of Wales Drive. There is also paid parking available at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada parking lot, and other parking options nearby, including at Carleton University. Participants can also take the O-Train to Carleton Station and walk to Fletcher Wildlife Garden from there.
