Join us for a thought-provoking public discussion with Erich Frankland, political science instructor in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Casper College, director of the Casper Committee on Foreign Relations, and faculty advisor for the Campus Democrats.This program is part of the NEA Big Read, in which our community comes together to read "Lab Girl" by Hope Jahren and explore the themes of her work through shared conversation and programming. Drawing inspiration from "Lab Girl" and its emphasis on curiosity, persistence, and the value of scientific inquiry, Frankland will lead a discussion on the role science has played in shaping our democracy.
This talk will examine how scientific research and education have shaped public decision-making and civic life throughout our nation’s history, and how scientific thinking continues to influence how we understand and address complex issues today.
This program also celebrates the United States Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years of American history. Be on the lookout for additional events throughout the summer that explore our shared past and the ideas that continue to shape our nation.
