Host: Phillip A. Washington, Chief Executive Officer

Info: Phillip A. Washington was nominated by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock in 2021 and again by Mayor Mike Johnston in 2023. In 2024, DEN ranked as the third‑busiest airport in the U.S. and sixth‑busiest in the world. DEN is Colorado’s largest economic engine with a $47.2 billion annual impact and more than 40,000 badged employees. The airport supports 26 airlines serving 232 domestic and international destinations.
At DEN, Phil oversees a $12.5 billion Capital Improvement Program focused on expanding capacity for 50 million more passengers. He has led the opening of 39 new gates, relocated airline ticket counters, and opened two major security areas ahead of schedule and under budget. He also advanced work on a consolidated rental car facility and improved safety performance, earning “no” deficiencies on three of the last four Part 139 inspections. In 2023, all three rating agencies upgraded DEN’s credit rating to its highest level.
