Unleash your inner #StaminaBoss with Carnival Cross Fête! Playing the hottest and grooviest soca, samba, and second line jams, break a sweat, catch a vibe, and bring some joy into your life while dancing like you're on the road for Carnival Tuesday/Mardi Gras!
This class is a 1.5 hour weekly celebration of Carnival music, dance, and culture from across the Americas. Equal parts dance fitness and dance party, you'll learn new and classic dance moves while also exploring the culture and history that ties these rich legacies together in a fun, flowing format designed to elevate your heart and spirit! Connect to your spirit of unapologetic joy, and jump with us into Carnival Cross Fête!
About the Instructor:
Ezra Myles is a multidisciplinary artist, arts educator, and Event Producer based in Oakland, CA. Much like his birthplace of Newark, NJ, Ezra creates and curates art experiences that bridge the gap between the shared cultural legacies of the African Diaspora. As the Executive Director of MylesBeyond Entertainment, an event and media production company, and Artistic Director of MasFX Dance, Ezra weaves visual art, digital media, spoken word, and dance to engage and empower BIPOC communities through the lens of Carnival as a multiethnic celebration of liberation, resilience, joy, and heritage. His dance accolades include being crowned as the 2023 King of Carnaval San Francisco, and performing with such musical greats as Sheila E, Dwayne Wiggins, and Howard Wiley.
About MasFX Dance:
MasFX Dance is a Bay Area–based African Diasporic dance collective curating dance classes, Carnival programs, and social-cultural events rooted in joy, wellness, and liberation. Through movement, music, and community celebration, we honor the traditions of Carnival across the Caribbean, North America, and South America while creating accessible spaces for people to reconnect with their bodies and cultural memory.
