About this Event
Carmen Farfán live in London
This recital is a celebration of Latin American music identity. Carmen’s performance style, described as both powerful and deeply sensitive, transports the listener to the heart of South America, blending virtuosic classical technique with the raw, earthy spirit of the Venezuelan joropo.
Carmen Farfán began her journey with the classical guitar at the age of six. An accomplished competition laureate, she has performed extensively across both the United Kingdom and her native Venezuela. Her early career was marked by significant victories, including first prize at the ‘Alírio Díaz’ National Guitar Competition in 2011 and the National Guitar Competition of Angostura in 2014.
After graduating as an Art Middle Technician from the ‘Voces de Carayaca’ Arts School in 2015, Carmen sought to expand her horizons internationally. Her development has been shaped by masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists, including Pavel Steidl, Luis Zea, and Lukasz Kuropaczewski, whose influence encouraged her to pursue further studies abroad.
In 2021, Carmen made history as the first Venezuelan guitarist to receive a full ABRSM scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, where she earned her BMus (Hons) in Performance. Now based in London, she maintains a vibrant career as a freelance performer and dedicated educator at Wac Arts.
