About this Event

Caribbean Solidarity: Story, Song, and Protest

This is a free event, but registration is required.

In this talk rooted in the Latinx and Caribbean joy that exploded from Bad Bunny's 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, writers from across the Caribbean join us to discuss the ways they are constructing identity within and without the diaspora and maintaining their roots through the publication of their creative work. Moderated by Executive Director of the Bronx Book Festival Saraciea Fennell this discussion features PEN America Board member and author Esmeralda Santiago (Las Madres), award-winning novelist Angie Cruz (How Not to Drown in a Glass of Water), and debut author Justin Haynes (Ibis).

The 2026 PEN World Voices Festival is a celebration of world literature and free expression. The 2026 edition will be the 21st World Voices Festival. Over four days, over 140 writers from over 40 countries will be featured in 40 engaging talks, panels, readings, and activations in New York City and greater Los Angeles.
