They know where the train will take them, but not when it will arrive, or if they’re truly ready to board. Conversation drifts from sandwiches to salt flats, memories of first kisses to fears of the future, as different versions of masculinity collide. When a woman finally speaks, her voice reframes the waiting room entirely… “Slow and steady loses the race.”
