About this Event
Brooch Club #1: Overview & Inspiration
What is Brooch Club?
A community-driven series of gatherings for jewellers, Brooch Club brings together makers with an existing jewellery practice to explore, discuss and make brooches in the lead-up to a group exhibition in September/October 2026.
This first session is all about getting started. We’ll kick off with:
- An overview of the brooch club plan for 2026 plus an orientation on contemporary jewellery practice in Australia
- A look at diverse approaches to materials, meaning, and format through 'show and tell' and group discussion
- Sharing your past or current brooch work (bring examples if you’d like)
- Bring along your journal for notes and creative activities
- Bring along broooches, books, back catalogues - anything that inspires to share with the group - let's create an inspiring 'show & tell' table to prompt group discussion
- Introducing our exhibition theme for 2026 and exploring initial ideas and a group chat in response to our theme
Whether you’re a regular brooch-maker or looking to revisit this format, this is your launchpad.
This is a peer-focused event – ideal for jewellers with an existing practice.
Each Brooch Club meet is hosted in multiple locations (at the same time) - choose the best location for you - all meets are hosted via this Eventbrite profile - register to secure your spot.
Brooch Club is an initiative to bring our jewellery community together, supported by local Creative Spaces and JMGA NSW.
We request a small contribution to participate. Your donation of $15 on sign up helps cover running costs for organisers. However, if contributing isn't possible for you right now, please don’t let that be a barrier. Everyone is welcome, regardless of financial means.
See you for Brooch Club 2026 this Winter!
