Bristol 1904 Arts presents Grace Sheene by Jack Calloway

BRISTOL 1904 ARTS is thrilled to welcome a worthy constituent and the rising star of jazz vocals in the UK, the wonderful Grace Sheene. We make a very simple prediction: we are going to be hearing a lot more of this vocalist Grace Sheene.

Kentucky-born, trained here in London as an actor, her way with songbook standards is something very special indeed. She makes every syllable of every word count. Her pause-craft and her pianissimo-craft are spectacular too.

Moved by recordings of Judy Garland, Mabel Mercer, Bobby Short, Lee Wiley, Etta Jones, Julie London and countless other singers from the golden eras of cabaret, swing, and cool jazz, Grace interprets songs from the canon with an expansive yet personal approach. A deep dive into the American Songbook has inspired her hope to give forgotten gems the attention they deserve — alongside beloved standards.

Grace has quickly become an established performer on London’s jazz scene, appearing regularly at venues such as Crazy Coqs, The Ned, Boisdale, and Brown’s Hotel. But for one night only, she will join our Jack Calloway at Bristol 1904 Arts to give us a night not to forget.

How does he manage to get such talent to our door?

Yes, this event is open to both club members and the public but we are a small intimate venue - just 110 seats, so tickets are on a first come, first served basis.

This jazz event will take place in our iconic Performance Hall within the Red Lodge, Park Row BS1 5LJ.
