This session introduces the Lean Canvas, a practical tool for organizing and refining business ideas. Participants will learn how to break their ideas down into key components like customer needs, value propositions, and revenue streams. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to develop your concept and identify the next steps for turning your vision into reality. And, if you already have an idea for a business, use the Lean Canvas to explore it during class.
Designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, small-business owners, or anyone exploring a new idea, this session is approachable and hands-on. Activities include an overview of the Lean Canvas framework, guided exercises to help you start filling it out, and opportunities for group discussion and feedback. Whether you’re starting from scratch or fine-tuning an idea, this workshop will give you valuable tools and insights to take your business concept to the next level.

With over seven years of experience working with small businesses in Vermont, Abbey is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs in developing and growing their ideas. Currently, she is focused on building an innovation center and business support hub in Randolph, where she also facilitates a tech accelerator that uses the Lean Canvas model. Abbey has seen firsthand how effective this tool can be for businesses in the development phase, and in this session, she will guide participants through applying the Lean Canvas to their own ideas, helping them see how they can develop them into real, thriving businesses.
