About this Event
SP360 Lambeth hosts monthly workshops in Clapham on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
These gatherings are part of a Black women's empowerment programme, where members choose topics they believe will offer them support, information and guidance for personal growth and community enrichment.
For our April workshop, we’ve invited Mental Wellbeing & Transformational Coach, Maz Alexander to lead you through a supportive and empowering workshop called 'Breaking the Mask: Authenticity, Healing, and Mental Wellness for Black Women'.
Maz Alexander is a Mental Wellbeing and transformational Coach, Social Worker, Mother, Speaker and Author based in South London. She supports busy professionals and care givers develop and maintain healthy boundaries so that they can implement the self-care they need to live balanced, authentic and fulfilled lives.

What the workshop is about
This is a powerful and transformative session designed to explore the emotional, cultural, and societal pressures that often lead Black women to hide behind a “mask” of strength, resilience, and self‑sacrifice.
The session examines how historical narratives, workplace expectations, and community roles can shape an identity centered on perfection and silence—often at the expense of mental and emotional wellbeing.
Grounded in culturally responsive mental health principles, this presentation invites participants to reflect on the origins of these masks, understand their impact, and engage in practical strategies for reclaiming authenticity. Through storytelling, guided activities, and evidence‑informed wellness practices, the session promotes healing, self‑compassion, and emotional freedom.
Ultimately, Breaking the Mask empowers Black women to redefine wellness on their own terms, embrace vulnerability as strength, build supportive connections, and cultivate holistic wellbeing rooted in self-love, community care, and liberation.
