From encrypted messages to government pressure, they’ll share what it took to expose mass surveillance and why press freedom remains vital today. Expect candid insights, behind-the-scenes drama, and a powerful conversation about journalism, truth, and the future of the media. With audience Q&A, wine, nibbles, and a raffle - all in support of Queen’s Crescent Community Centre in Gospel Oak.

About the Editors

Alan Rusbridger was editor-in-chief of The Guardian from 1995 to 2015. Under his leadership, the paper published world-changing investigations — including WikiLeaks, the Edward Snowden files, and the phone-hacking scandal— and won multiple awards, including the Pulitzer Prize. He is the editor of Prospect magazine and a leading voice on press freedom and the future of news.

Janine Gibson led The Guardian US during its Pulitzer-winning coverage of Edward Snowden’s NSA revelations. She has since held senior roles at BuzzFeed and the Financial Times, where she is currently Weekend Editor. Known for her sharp editorial instincts and digital innovation, she remains one of the most influential editors in British and global journalism.
