About this Event
With its grand auditorium, ballroom, cabaret bar and restaurant, it quickly became a cultural landmark for Bradford, welcoming stars including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Subdivided in the 1960s, closed in 2000 and slated for demolition, the building stood derelict for nearly two decades before being revived as Bradford Live - a 4,000-capacity music and events venue.
But how do you bring a near-lost icon back to life without losing what made it iconic in the first place?
Join us for an evening of stories from the design team who made it happen. Hear about the history of this building, the complex alterations and repair works required to restore it, the weaving in of engineering and sustainability considerations, and the challenges navigated throughout - all guided by a deceptively simple principle: do no more than necessary.
