Join Union Hotel and the Giller Prize for a session of #BookTalk, an intimate new literary series celebrating Canadian literature in a fresh, community-focused way.

Continuing the series is Jane Urquhart in conversation with Susan Swan. Set in the cozy, storytelling-rich lobby of the Union Hotel, this live interview invites book lovers into a relaxed evening of meaningful dialogue, exploring Jane's latest work and the power of CanLit today.

Whether you're a lifelong reader or new to the scene, #BookTalk offers a modern take on the classic book club — it's live, local, and literary. Tickets are limited for this exclusive & intimate event!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR, JANE URQUHART:

JANE URQUHART, one of Canada’s best-loved writers, was born in the north (Little Longlac, Ontario), and grew up in Northumberland County and Toronto. She is the author of eight internationally acclaimed novels, which have received Le prix du meilleur livre étranger (Best Foreign Book Award) in France; the Trillium Award; and the Governor General’s Award, and have been finalists or longlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award; the Rogers Communications Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize; the Orange Prize; The Giller Prize; the Booker Prize; and the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best Book, among others.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR, SUSAN SWAN:

SUSAN SWAN is a Toronto novelist and non-fiction writer with international publications and a professor emerita at York University. She is also co-founder of The Carol Shields Prize for Fiction, the largest literary prize in the world for Canadian and American women and non-binary fiction authors. Her latest book Big Girls Don’t Cry, a memoir about the way her size shaped her life, was on CBC's best non fiction books of 2025 and the Globe's 100 notable books for 2025. It was published simultaneously by HarperCollins Canada on May 27, 2025 and by Beacon Press in the U.S. Her memoir was on the Canadian bestseller lists. She is working on a new short story collection, Stupid Boys Are Good to Relax With, Too.
